Today I sat down to consider, “what are my top 5 Spring images?”
This week started with the first day of Spring and ends with Easter Sunday. For me, Spring is a season that speaks hope and optimism.
Even if you are still battling the cold, you have probably noticed patches of green grass and flowers bursting through their snowy coats as if to say, “move over, it’s our turn now!” There’s something about seeing a glimmer of life after a cold, bleak season that just speaks to better things ahead.
Here are my top 5 Spring images!
Each of these images shout, “life is worth living!” Which others would you add to the list?
Easter has always been a special time for me. Of course, when I was young, it was all about the new Easter dress and basket of hollow chocolate bunnies on the kitchen table. But now, it’s a poignant reminder of sacrificial love…
We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.
Romans 5:8 (The Message)
The story of Easter is one of redemption, restoration and new beginnings…it’s a story I need to be reminded of often. As I work to pack up our family home and contemplate my youngest leaving home to attend college in a few short months, those present realities could so easily drain me of all optimism.
I’m not going to lie, it’s a tough road. But, I can choose what to focus on, so I will think of spring flowers and chubby babies in frilly dresses…lush green grass and wide-brimmed hats…and God’s great love for you and me.
Happy Easter everyone!
